Part cabin, part daydream, Tree House Colorado imagines the ultimate mountain escape. Framed by oversized elk antlers beneath a glowing full moon, the painting combines Colorado's forests, wildlife, and cabin culture into a single contemporary composition built in my Glassworks style.

THE STORY

A CABIN ABOVE THE PINES

Some places exist as much in memory as they do on a map. Tree House Colorado isn't meant to depict a specific location, but rather the feeling of disappearing into the mountains for a weekend beneath tall pines, cool evenings, and a sky bright enough to light the forest.

The oversized antlers create a natural frame, celebrating Colorado's wildlife while giving the composition the structure of stained glass. Warm cabin light contrasts against the cool night sky, inviting the viewer into a place that feels both familiar and imagined.

THE PROCESS

BUILDING A MOUNTAIN ESCAPE

CONCEPT

THE IDEA

The concept began by combining several iconic Colorado themes - elk, mountain cabins, towering pines, and moonlit skies - into a single graphic composition.

DESIGN

BUILDING THE COMPOSITION

The entire scene was developed using the flowing framework of my Glassworks style, allowing every shape to connect while guiding the eye toward the illuminated cabin.

PAINTING

COLOR & DETAIL

Transparent acrylic layers established the color relationships before colored pencil was used to sharpen edges, add texture, and bring warmth to the cabin and surrounding forest.

FINISH

READY TO FRAME

After the final pencil work, the painting received a protective clear finish before being prepared for framing and exhibition.
