Olde Town - New Day

FINDING HOME IN FAMILIAR PLACES

Olde Town has always felt like the heart of Arvada. Rather than documenting a single street corner, I wanted to capture the feeling of the place—its historic water tower, familiar storefronts, and the ever-present Front Range beyond. Built in my Glassism style, each shape becomes its own pane of color, simplifying the landscape while preserving its character. The warm morning sky represents optimism, while the layered geometry reflects how communities are built over generations.

BUILDING AN ARVADA ICON

CONCEPT

CHOOSING THE ICONS

The composition began by identifying the landmarks that instantly say "Arvada"—the historic water tower, surrounding architecture, foothills, and Colorado sky.

DESIGN

BUILDING THE COMPOSITION

The scene was simplified into the geometric language of Glassworks, balancing architecture, typography, and landscape into a single unified composition.

COLOR

FIRST LIGHT

Warm oranges, reds, violets, and muted greens create the feeling of sunrise over Olde Town while maintaining the stained-glass character of the piece.

FINISH

FINAL BALANCE

Subtle refinements to color, contrast, and edge work unified the painting while preserving its handcrafted feel.
