NIGHT HAVEN

DENNIS LINE • 24 × 32 • ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
A contemporary landscape inspired by nights in Rocky Mountain National Park, where glowing campfires, moonlight, and alpine silence become a place of refuge.
Night Haven

A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS

Night Haven began with a familiar Colorado ritual: the quiet that settles over camp after sunset, when conversation fades, the fire burns low, and the mountains disappear into silhouettes beneath a bright moon.

Rather than illustrating a specific campsite, the painting combines memories gathered over many trips through Rocky Mountain National Park. The tent, fire, aspens, snow, and distant peaks become simplified shapes that capture the feeling of spending a night outdoors rather than documenting a single location.

Built in the Glassworks style, the painting combines bold linework, layered acrylic color, controlled airbrush transitions, and hand-painted highlights to create the feeling of illuminated stained glass while celebrating the quiet beauty of Colorado's high country.

FROM MEMORY TO MOONLIGHT

STAGE 01

COMPOSITION

The landscape, tent, fire, and mountain forms are arranged into a balanced composition before color is introduced.

STAGE 02

LINEWORK

Heavy black outlines define each shape and establish the stained-glass framework that gives the painting its structure.

STAGE 03

COLOR & ATMOSPHERE

Layered acrylic color and controlled airbrush transitions build the cool evening sky, glowing firelight, and quiet mood of the mountain landscape.

STAGE 04

FINAL GLOW

Hand-painted highlights, subtle texture, and final glazing create depth, bringing the campfire, moonlight, and surrounding landscape to life.
