A Symbol Reframed

Elevated Peace began with one of the world's most recognizable symbols, placed against the familiar silhouette of Colorado's Flatirons. Rather than making a statement, the painting explores the enduring idea of peace through landscape, color, and composition, allowing a simple icon to take on new meaning within the natural beauty of the American West.

Built in the Glassworks style, the composition combines bold black linework, layered acrylic color, controlled airbrush transitions, and hand-painted highlights to create the illusion of illuminated stained glass while celebrating both place and symbol.

Method

From Symbol to Landscape

Stage 2

Concept

The composition began by pairing the universal peace symbol with the unmistakable profile of Colorado's Flatirons, creating a balance between landscape and iconography.

Stage 2

Structure

Bold linework established the Glassworks framework, dividing the composition into geometric forms that guide both color and light.

Stage 3

Color

Layered acrylics and controlled airbrush transitions built depth across the sky, mountains, and surrounding landscape while preserving the clean graphic structure.

Stage 4

Finish

Hand-painted highlights, glazing, and final edge work completed the piece, reinforcing the stained-glass character of the Glassworks series.
