A Musician Who Never Was

Not every painting has to document a real place or person. Jesse Starstrum imagines the kind of musician who might have spent every Friday night playing beneath the Colorado stars, drawing locals and travelers into an old mountain lodge for an evening of songs and stories. References to Estes Park and Voelkel's Glacier Lodge help create the feeling of discovering a forgotten piece of Colorado history. From Poster Design to Finished Painting

Concept

Building the Poster

The project began with a vintage concert-poster layout, balancing typography, composition, and the simplified figure before any painting began.

The final drawing established every shape and heavy black outline that would define the finished Glassworks style.

Layering Color

Transparent acrylic layers were built gradually to create glowing transitions while preserving crisp edges and bold graphic forms.

Subtle texture and aging effects were added to give the painting the feel of a handcrafted concert poster that had quietly become part of Colorado folklore.
